Today in 311 AD marked the end of the Diocletianic Persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire. YHC read from 2 Timothy 3:11-12 that says “persecutions, sufferings – what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,”

While a tyranical dictatorship is no longer crucifying Christians upside down in a stadium, as Christians we still face a different persecution today. In fact, Paul's letter is telling us that persecution for Christians is inevitable. See, we live in a broken and sinful world. This world is not where we're destined to spend eternity. As such, when we walk with Christ in this world and live by his word, we should expect discomfort. That doesn't mean being stoned to death or boiled alive (T Claps to the early Apostles for the sufferings they endured) but it may mean being the odd man out sometimes or having to address discomfort head-on, like expressing your faith publicly knowing that it may draw some assumptions, odd looks, or even antagonist reactions. As men, we should not be afraid of these persecutions. Being a Christian isn't easy because while our souls are destined for a relationship with Christ, if we let him into our hearts, our bodies are tethered to this broken world. That creates constant friction. Joining F3 isn't easy either. It means making sacrifices and a willingness to be held accountable or pushed forward whether we like that push or not.

Have faith in the Lord. He has rescued us through his sacrifice. As the saying goes, a ship is safest in harbor but that's not what ships were meant for.

SYITG, Cosmo out.
