Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the weight (sin) that so easily entangles us. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
When I read this recently it made me think of you guys who ruck. When you first put on your pack you notice the extra weight and the burden it represents but after a while it feels natural. It’s not until you take it back off that you realize how much it slowed you down. Sin or behaviors in our lives that separate us from God is much like this. At first it’s uncomfortable and you have hesitation, but it will soon be part of your everyday life and no longer viewed as a weight. The challenge for all of us then is to take the time to evaluate our actions and habits that are hindering us and to turn to Jesus for his wisdom and the strength to remove them.
