Today we did this BEATDOWN in honor of…
U.S. Marine Cpl. Albert Gettings, 27, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, died on Jan. 5, 2009, while conducting counter-sniper operations in Fallujah, Iraq. Cpl. Gettings was serving as a team leader with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, at the time of his death.
Yesterday at #ao-roughnecks I talked about our need to submit and surrender and give up what really is perceived control in different areas of our life.
During my devotions this morning I was reading in Luke 21:1-4 and it struck me this is a perfect example of giving up control. In the story the rich are giving to God out of their wealth, something they can easily afford to give. The widow gave the very last of what she had, she gave everything and trusted God to take care of her.
In Matthew 10:31 Jesus is talking about how a sparrow (and there are thousands of them), if it falls, Gods sees it, he does not miss it. If He sees that happen how much more will He take care of you when you are living a life in submission to Him and the plan He has for you.
Control is an illusion, trust in the one who is not.
