Moleskin:
Many things are important, but few things are truly necessary.
Don’t miss the most important stuff because you’re too busy getting stuff done.
Reaching towards goals or answering the call of duty sounds noble on its face, but not if it keeps you from experiencing the greater things of life, the things that bring lasting joy.
Consider keeping some margin in your life so you can “stop and smell the roses” from time to time.
“Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:38-42‬ ‭ESV‬‬
Martha was on her feet serving and being productive, but the Bible describes her as “distracted”.
Mary was sitting and listening to the teaching of Jesus. But Jesus said that Mary had chosen the “better portion.”
Conclusion: Work hard, be productive, serve others. Show hospitality. Those things are important.
But don’t get distracted and lose perspective. Nothing is more important than resting and learning at the feet of Jesus.
@Peewee (TRAPP) out!
