Moleskin:
St. Patrick is one of my favorite Saints. He was obedient to God’s call and brought the Good News to pagan Ireland, which was later brought to Europe  and subsequently to the US. Thus, we western Christians can all credit St. Patrick at least partially with the faith we enjoy today. It’s a shame his Feast Day has evolved into an excuse for many to simply get drunk.
There are Ireland’s in the lives of all of us, (friends, family, coworkers, etc.) and God is calling us to evangelize and be a light to them. As with St. Patrick, this path will be fraught with trials, but Christ will be with us every step of the way. Gal. 2:20, John 16:33.
Have the fortitude, humility, and obedience to answer His call, and never underestimate what Christ can do through you.
With all of the above in mind, I challenge you to approach this St. Patrick’s Day with a temperate, grateful, and humble heart. Have a drink with a loved one(s) and toast to how blessed we are to reside in the mustard tree that St. Patrick helped cultivate; then resolve to live in such a way that is worthy of his efforts and obedient to Christ’s will. Mark 4:30-32.
TD out.
