Moleskin:
-When God puts it on your heart to speak an encouraging word, or to write something on slack, or social media, or face to face with someone… do it!
-Even if you don’t believe a thought is from God or you can’t be sure of it, if it’s from a heart of wanting to encourage others, don’t hesitate.  Speak life!
-You never know the level of impact the smallest encouragement can have on someone, and likewise you never know how much or little a well-developed deep and meaningful moleskin will have.
-Impact often has a lot to do with God’s timing and providence.
-In the world of social Media (including Slack), we often judge impact by the number of likes, emojis, retweets, Kudos, shares, etc.
-we might be tempted to get discouraged if our efforts to encourage others do not show immediate visible signs of impact.  Don’t be discouraged, and don’t be deceived about impact!
Ask yourself this question:  how often have you been impacted for the better by something somebody said or did…. But you never mentioned it to anyone?  Not in a FB like, a retweet, comment, thumbs up, kudos, share, etc.  if you’re like me, it has happened A LOT!
If it’s true for you, it’s probably true for most people.  Think about all the times that people’s lives have been impacted and the person doing the impacting has no clue they said or did something that was helpful or meaningful to the person specifically?
Don’t try to measure your impact by the immediate visible reaction of others alone.  Keep encouraging others no matter what, and don’t focus on “the sale” and “closing the deal”
Think more in terms of a farmer and seeds, and the future harvest:
Using our encouraging words, acts of charity, acts of service and sacrifice, time spent teaching/instructing our children, etc….are sowing seeds of righteousness in others that take time before the season of harvest arrives.  We’re sowing/planting seeds that God will nourish and water and bring to the point of harvest in his time.
A few scriptures to illustrate the concept of sowing now, and trusting in God to bring about the harvest, or results if you think of it that way.
“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:7-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
‭‭James‬ ‭3:17-18‬ ‭ESV‬‬“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:11‬ ‭ESV‬‬“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:6-12‬ ‭ESV
