Do you ever have trouble getting it right, even though you know what you need to do?
It’s probably because the right path is not always the easy path. Things get in the way. Distractions take you off course. Unnecessary burdens weigh you down.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,”

Story time:
According to legend, Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés issued a rather interesting order to his men as they began their conquest of the Aztec empire in 1519.
After landing the boats on enemy territory, the order was simple: Burn the boats!
He wanted his men to realize that they had no opportunity to retreat, so they had to give this fight everything they had. Failure was no longer an option and winning this battle just became that much more important. The only way to go home alive was moving forward, and through victory.
It’s not more honorable to purposely stay in proximity to the temptation to prove your will power or strength or purity. That’s playing with fire, and it’s not smart. Remember, the priority is to get the important things right. What does it benefit you if you don’t succeed in the things that matter and are lasting?
Jesus says if something is holding you back, get rid of it! But he says it in much more graphic metaphorical terms:
If your hand or foot causes you to stumble, cut it off! If your eye is the problem, pluck it out!
If the comfort of an escape route to the sea is keeping you on the beach rather than storming the enemy’s gates, burn the boats!!
“If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.”
Matthew 18:8-9 NIV

How can you remove those obstacles?
