Labor Day Double Murph – 9.07.20

6 HIM put in the work this morning to start Labor Day 2020. Weather was nice. Clear, fairly cool, and low humidity.
@Ron Swanson @Rudolph @Tiny Dancer @Heidi @Lone Star and YHC
@Tiny Dancer proposed the format of 4 rounds below. Sure, why not?
We did a brief general warmup and then I saw @Lone Star put on his ruck before we started. This was after his Slack post yesterday about being sore. Moral of the story: Don’t mess with Texas!!
1 mile
10 sets of Cindy:
5 pull-ups
10 Merkins
15 squats
Repeat until 4 miles and 40 sets have been completed.
My attempt to get a good lead on @Tiny Dancer lasted through the first mile and 1 set on the first round of Cindy. After that I was chasing him the entire way. Great work today @Tiny Dancer!
And speaking of work, you know the days when you put in hard manual labor? That’s what this felt like. Less of a workout and more like just straight work. Over and over again. It was a test of endurance and perseverance for sure. Great work to ALL of you guys for pushing through the gloom and striving for the finish.
@Tiny Dancer finished around 1:11
YHC came in at 1:16:41
Didn’t get anybody else’s times. Anyone? Anyone?
COT
We had some good coffeeteria talk about tv shows, date nights, parenting, school, protecting our kids, trusting God, Shield Lock, and then Tiny reminded us we hadn’t officially begun COT yet. After nameorama,
I read a passage that inspired me: 1 Cor 9:24-27. Fitting for today.
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Let’s all live in such a way as to get the prize and not be disqualified. We’re all one bad decision from being disqualified. YET, God is faithful and He redeems. As @Rudolph said, God is big enough to handle all things.
Prayers:
Work situation for @Heidi
Job provision for @Kwame
Parenting and schooling the kiddos
Encouragement and healing for the PAX in need
Strength for us to live out the love of Christ daily
#uprising is tomorrow at 5:15. Get your HC’s in!
Pancreas out. SYITG
