Thang 1 – Wilma’s secret coupons
Atop Wilma’s Hill (aptly named for the bench located there dedicated to Wilma Goetsch) the PAX found the special “paincakes” I’ve been working on all week – 15 brand new, never been dirty, sweated on, or puked on, coupons. Pretty little thangs all lined up in a row. PAX split into groups of 2 and attacked the following reps together.
Thang 1.1:
– Burpee Coupon jump over (100)
– Coupon Cling & Press (100)
– Overhead squats (150) Q stopped the PAX part of the way through based on time
– American Hammers w/ Coupon (200)
Thang 1.2:
– bear crawl down Wilma’s Hill.
– Sprint 50 yards to picnic tables.
– 10 Decline Merkins
– 10 Dips
– 10 step ups (per leg) Q later reduced to 5/leg for time
– 50 yard sprint to base of hill
– crawl bear back up
Cleanup:
– Coupon farmer carry (or bear crawl for those w/o a coupon) down Wilma’s Hill + 50 Yards to picnic tables.
– Load tables w/ coupons and boat carry them as teams back to the Hall of Justice
– Extra Credit: Farmer carry coupons remaining 50 yards to flags.
Time.

Philippians 3:12-14
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
This is one of my favorite verses since joining F3, because for the first time in my adult life, I find myself enjoying the fitness journey. Perseverance is something that I have historically not been great at. Yet things like F3 have taught me to love and even crave it. There is a “strain” that we should feel in this life if something is worth doing. My Dad worked three jobs when I was a kid to put me through private Christian school. In his value system, he was doing what he thought was best, though difficult, to provide for his family. There were weeks when the only time I saw him was when he showed up to coach my baseball team. That’s right, he made time for that too. Again, probably not what he wanted to do after working 18 hours, but he pushed through because he believed it was important. I’m sure there were times where he wanted to quit, but he didn’t. He stuck it out. Heck, I put in an 8 hour day and have to make myself get off the couch when I get home and be intentional with my kids.
We will all face those types of challenges in our lives when life will get hard, and we will question, “Is it worth all this?” It might be a particular job, a degree, a marriage, or a struggle with our kids. However the answer is yes, yes it is. We have to dig down and gut it out when it hurts. We have to strain, but it is so much easier to do that together than it is to try and shoulder that alone. That’s why this group is so important to my acceleration. Not only do the workouts teach me perseverance, you men, the men of my shield lock, the man standing next to you… we are here for when you feel like you can’t take another step. God bless you men for the impact you’ve made in my life.
It was an honor to lead you HIM today.
SYITG,
@Offsides out.
